writer for NBC's The Today Show. In addition to his news duties, he enjoys
writing and producing segments exploring the world of technology and pop
culture. He has also written for several prime time NBC News specials. He
started his career in radio at RKO Radio Networks, later moving to New York's
WNBC-AM (the station made infamous for firing Howard Stern) where he worked
with Don Imus and Alan Colmes. Moving on to television, he was a producer for
McGraw-Hill Aviation Week Videos. His interest in eBay began in 1998 when he
began buying collectibles on the auction Website. He introduced the Today Show
audience to eBay with the first nationally publicized charity auction that
netted $11,500 with the sale of an autographed NBC jacket. eBay Founder Pierre
Omidyar donated an additional $125,000 live on the Today Show and all proceeds
benefited the U.S Marine Corp's Toys For Tots charity. In his spare time,
Roland enjoys going on adventures with his daughters Allie and Katie, riding
motorcycles, flying airplanes, and hunting for metal 1960's TV lunchboxes on
eBay.
He's still looking for "Man From Uncle" and "Green
Hornet" lunchboxes to complete his collection. Email
